I wish I could skip next week; I think as I get into bed that night. In the morning, I wake up one hundred years into the future. As I get up, I feel a bundle of confusion come across my head as I look around with big eyes wondering where I am at. I was in a strange room with a bunch of robots and machines. The light was so bright I could barely even open my eyes.
I kindly ask one of the unknown robots where we were at and they looked at me with a blank stare and said, “We’re home.”
I began to turn around as I look a mirror and the year said 3020. I then automatically felt a lump growing in my throat as a sign of great regret. I made a loud noise as my mouth opened as wide as it possibly could. I started to scream in the highest pitch my voice could go as the robots looked at me with almost just as much confusion as I had. They began to ask me in their very deep voices if I needed anything. To be honest I just wanted to know who they were and how was it possible that they were here, so that is exactly what I did. I spoke up in a firm voice demanding them as I had my finger pointed at their faces to answer my questions. The robots tried to help me, but I would not believe this is happening. These robots made from metal were quite surprised with the way I was acting. They decided to answer my questions because they seemed like they didn’t have anything to hide. The main robot started talking about how they have been my family for over ten years now. They weren’t my family; robots aren’t my family. I tried so hard to explain to them that this isn't possible. My heart was still racing after finding out the news I could not believe, robots are a thing.
Even though I was more than confused about how I skipped a century. I still couldn’t get my mind off how different life is now. I am going to figure this out. I am going to get back to my old life, I don’t exactly know how yet but I do know I am going to get this figured out. I’m not giving up, not now.
I quietly asked the robots, “Can someone can help me please help me figure this out?”
Thankfully the robots said yes, they began to tell me about the very old man that lived down the street. Well it seemed strange to me especially because I didn’t even know if any other humans lived here, because all I've seen is robots. I decided to walk to his house and knock on the door, he didn’t answer at first. Then after a while knocking a couple more times, he finally decided to answer his door.
The man answered with a very rude tone in his voice, “Hello?”
I started asking him questions immediately, he decided to let me in before he answered any of them. By the look in his eyes I could tell her knew exactly what I was talking about.
He then began to whisper to me in complete shock, “Someone believes, someone truly believes!”
I was confused at first wondering what he meant, but before I could ask, he asked for my name.
I answered quietly, “Noah, my name is Noah.”
The man looked at me in awe, he then told me his name. “You can call me JR.”
Filling my mind full of crazy information, there was an old clock that the old man has, and it needed a certain key to open it. That certain key just happened to be hidden in the main robot, but there was one problem the main robot was never seen before by a human. I had to get that key, in order to go home. Without saying anything more I sprinted over to where I met the robots before, I wondered where the robot I was looking for could be. All the sudden a random thought came up into my head, my parents' bedroom, it was locked but I had the key. The robot had to be in there, I unlocked the door and there it was, shut down. I began to unscrew the screws on its back and found the key. I ran out of the bedroom and sprinted down the street until I made it to JRs house, grabbed the clock and unlocked it as fast as I could without saying one word. I was home.
